Crowd Protests Police Violence, George Floyd's Death in Downtown LA

May 27, 2020

A crowd of protesters protested against the use of excessive force by police - overtaking part of the 101 freeway in downtown LA Wednesday late afternoon.

According to KNX reporter Pete Demetriou who was live on KNX 1070 News Radio, the protest included about 600 to 800 people which started at the Hall of Justice in downtown LA - to blocking both sides of the 101 freeway at Alameda.

The crowd then splintered into different groups to protest elsewhere in Los Angeles. The crowd was seen wearing masks.

The protest comes days after the death of George Floyd, a black Minneapolis man, after a white Minneapolis police officer pinned his knee on his neck. Four police officers were fired after the incident.

At the moment, the protest is now off of the freeway at Aliso and Alameda. The crowd exited the 101 freeway about 40 minutes ago.

Numerous media reported at least one person appearing to be injured, including the LA Times.
