Did You Live Stream That On Your Phone? Pay Up!

February 6, 2017
One lawyer said people who live-streamed the Danny Green versus Anthony Mundine boxing bout on social media
could face fines of up to $60,000 or five years in prison.

The bout between the two veteran fighters was billed as the most anticipated in Australian history, and the local cable company (Foxtel) was charging $60 per fan to watch the TV event. So several fans paid it and then held up their phone or had their phones streaming in the venue. Fans have now started Go Fund Me pages in case they end up getting sued.

The promoters say companies like Facebook need to monitor the LIVE content better in order to protect copyright material.

I'd be lying if I said I'd never watched events on Periscope!
