Louisiana COVID hospitalizations down for 1st time in days

For the first time in twelve days, there is a decrease in COVID-19 hospitalizations in Louisiana. It is down three from yesterday, to stand at 1,022, but it is still a 53-day high.

The number of patients on ventilators also fell, down four to 105.

Total cases have surpassed 70,000  -- up 1,888 today to 70,151. Deaths are up 20, to 3,231.

The Louisiana Department of Health today also updated the number of presumed recoveries to 46,334. A person is presumed recovered if it has been more than two weeks since their diagnosis and they are not dead or in the hospital, or three weeks if their hospital status is unknown.

While that is another 3,308 people since the last recovery estimate, it also means an estimated 20,586 people in Louisiana are currently fighting the disease.
